Nadir completed his Ph.D. in Summer 2009 and joined the Distributed Cognition and Human Computer Interaction Lab at the University of California San Diego as Postdoc in October 2009. He is currently working at the intersection of computer science, communication, and social sciences, studying the cognitive consequences of the introduction and the deployment of interactive multimodal and tangible devices.
In his Ph.D. research at ETH Zurich he investigated how to support and extend the authoring and publishing infrastructure for interactive documents, enabling a mapping between digital and paper instances of a document and enhancing the interaction between paper interfaces and digital documents. He was involved in the European Project PaperWorks, which succesfully built on the experiences gathered within the Paper++ project. The main goal of this project was providing distinctive ways of interleaving paper documents with digital materials.
Nadir is originally from Ticino, the southern and italian part of Switzerland where he completed all the basic schools. He came to Zurich in 1998 for studying computer science at ETH Zurich and did his Diploma Thesis (M.Sc.) in the Global Information Systems group in 2003. He started as a research assistant and Ph.D. student in the group in September 2004.
